Air conditioning type
Wall Type
Wall type air conditioning is the most common use in Thailand. It has many functions and a good design. Wall type has many size e.g. 9,000 BTUs, 12,000 BTUs, 15,000 BTUs, 18,000 BTUs, 24,000 BTUs, and some brand has more than 24,000 BTUs. Most of them is a split type, 1 fan coil unit and 1 condensing unit. It’s most used in townhouses, apartments, and a small office.
- Lowest price compare with other types
- Various of size from low BTU to middle BTU (9,000 – 24,000 BTU
- Easily install and fast
Ceiling Type
Ceiling type is also a split type, the differences are its design and power. Ceiling type is more complex in installation, so that makes the installation cost is more expensive than a wall type. Its size started from 12,000 BTUs to 60,000 BTUs. The ceiling type suits with a large room or high ceiling room.
Pros
- Only use a ceiling space
- Come with high BTU
- Suit with a long or wide room
Cassette type
Cassette type is installed in a ceiling (or some places install it with a bare body as Loft style). Usually, we only see its cover as its body is hidden in a ceiling. Generally, cassette type suits with a huge room such as an office or a store as it has high BTU. As cassette type is hidden in a ceiling once it is installed, you need a professional technician to install the cassette type air conditioning.
Pros
- Save space and look beautiful
- Air flows all over the room
- Come with high BTU (12,000 – 60,000 BTUs)
- Very low noise while operating
Floor Type
Floor type is not seen so much, most of them are installed in a hall or in a restaurant as it’s standing on the floor and use some space of the room. So it does not suit with a small area.
Pros
- Suit with a large room
- No need to install on a wall or a ceiling
- It has more than 150,000 BTUs
Portable Type
Portable type is for temporarily usage or used with a limited space (no space to install a condensing unit). It comes with a flexible tube to cool the system. It has only less than 15,000 BTUs.
How to choose the right BTU
Generally, choosing the right air conditioning is about the right BTU, the right type for the right room. Theoretically, a bigger room needs a bigger BTU. However, buyers usually think that if the more expensive, the more BTU are better, which is wrong. The reasons are here:
- If there is too high BTU, the air conditioning will cut on and off frequently which consumes more energy and raise your electricity bill.
- If there is too low BTU, the compressor will always operate and it makes much more wear and tear.
The below table shows what room type and size suit with which BTU.
